Can dogs eat cantaloupe?

you may ask yourself can my dog eat cantaloupe?

Dogs can eat cantaloupe!

Yes they can. There is no scientific evidence that cantaloupes would be harmful to your dog. According to some experts, the flesh of cantaloupes is edible and quite healthy for your dogs. There are some instances when your dog can experience a mild gastrointestinal irritation but it is not something you should be alarmed by.

Cantaloupes can be added as a part of your dog’s diet but only if you supervise their feeding. Small amounts would not cause any discomforts to your dog in fact there are some dogs that digest this kind of food a lot easier to digest and therefore receives a lot more nutrients than other foods. This fruit is high in sugar content and must be avoided in diabetic dogs.

Cantaloupes can be quite healthy for your dog but if your dog experiences severe vomiting, loss of appetite, and diarrhea then you need to remove the fruit from its diet. You can also go to your veterinarian to ask if it is safe for your dog to eat cantaloupes. Chances are they will recommend starting to feed your dogs in small portion and then gradually increasing to a certain amount. This lets you observe if your dog can tolerate eating this kind of food as a part of its diet.

  1. Thankyou for your quick response! My dog loves cantelope but has not eaten any since she has been diagnoised as diabetic. There are enough things that she can have that she likes, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans etc. so I know she won’t miss cantelope! Thankyou again. Lettie Davis
