Can dogs eat blueberries?
you may ask yourself can my dog eat blueberries?
Dogs can eat blueberries!
If you find yourself dropping a container of blueberries all over your kitchen floor and Fido comes running to the rescue to clean up your mess of blueberries, don’t fear, blueberries won’t hurt your dog.
In fact blueberries can actually be good for your dog. Blueberries are choc full of antioxidants that work hard to fight free radicals in humans and in pets. Your dog can benefit from the antioxidants contained in blueberries the same way your body uses antioxidants to keep you healthy. Now, many dogs won’t care for the flavor of blueberries, but if your dog tends to like them, it won’t hurt for them to eat blueberries.
As in any alternative food source, it is advisable that you only let your pet eat blueberries in moderation. Any large amounts of fresh fruit can have a tendency to cause diarrhea in humans and animals. As long as your dog likes the taste of blueberries and does not suffer from diarrhea after eating them, then it is fine to let your pet have a nutritious treat every once in a while.
* Though blueberries look similar to grapes, you never want to feed your dog grapes. Grapes and raisins have been known to cause acute renal failure in some dogs.

Our dog loves blueberries, we smash up several blueberries and mix them into her food. It really helps with her coat and she is more energetic. We usually get them from Traverse Bay Farms when they are in season, but we get the frozen ones from Albertson’s.
